Hi! I’m Marcy — owner and creator of Made: Decor & Classes. I grew up in a large farming family in the small town of Home, KS. The handsome guys in the photo with me? That’s my husband John and our kids: Klahn, Kason, and Kody — my wild, wonderful trio who keep life full of energy, laughter, and a whole lot of snack requests.

Seventeen years ago, I was living in Kansas City, working full-time, going to school at night, and juggling life on a tight budget. That year alone, I was invited to 18 weddings (small town probs, right?). With no extra money for gifts, I decided to make something meaningful and handmade — personalized name blocks. This was pre-Pinterest, before DIY was a trend, but those simple gifts sparked something in me… and people loved them.

What started as a few handmade blocks quickly evolved: name blocks turned into seasonal decor, and eventually, custom wooden signs. Somewhere along the way, I fell in love with the process — and even more, the idea that I could turn my hobby into a career. Pinterest had now taken off, and DIY was everywhere. After attending a canvas painting class one night (and realizing the art didn’t match my style), I had the idea to host my own sign-making workshops. That first class lit a fire in me — I’d found my niche.

A few years later, I left my office job and took a leap of faith into doing what I love full time. After COVID hit, like many small business owners, I had to pivot — eventually stepping back from classes and taking a much-needed break. During that time, I made the big decision to move back home, got married, and added two more crazy, wonderful kids to our crew.

These days, I spend most of my time being “Mom,” but I’m so excited to be back creating, teaching, and helping others tap into their creativity again. Whether you're a first-time DIYer or just looking for a fun night out, I can't wait to help you make something beautiful for your home — and proudly say, “I MADE that!”
